It's not being old-fashioned...

Going to meet clients for the first time doesn’t need to be a daunting experience.  EWC is always happy to prep candidates when going for client interviews.  We want to ensure all bases are covered so you secure your next role. Always remember – ‘dress for success’ – first impressions still count in this day and age. Regardless of company culture and dress code, you as the candidate should always dress in a corporate fashion for your first interview.

FOR LADIES

  • Business suit – pants or skirt
  • Stockings should be worn with clean, high heeled shoes
  • A crisp, ironed shirt or top underneath is ideal
  • Hair should be clean, washed and worn ideally in an 'up-style'
  • All clothes should be either dry cleaned or washed before hand.  All creases removed.
  • Please avoid wearing ‘heavy’ perfume to an interview as this may take the focus away from you in interview – the client could even be allergic.  Light perfume is preferable
  • A somewhat delicate subject, but one that must be addressed is the use of deodorant. This should always be worn – people get nervous when going for interviews so being fully prepared for anything is the key. No one wants to have body odour when going for a potentially life changing role!

FOR MEN

  • A full suit should be worn – shirt, tie, trousers and jacket
  • Shirts must be ironed and pressed and no outlandish ties – for e.g. no cartoon or inappropriate characters.  Ties should be understated
  • Hair neatly combed, clean shaven appearance and no heavy aftershave
  • A somewhat delicate subject, but one that must be addressed is the use of deodorant. This should always be worn – people get nervous when going for interviews so being fully prepared for anything is the key. No one wants to have body odour when going for a potentially life changing role!
  • If you are going for a sales role, research has shown that people feel more comfortable ‘buying’ from someone who is clean shaven, with no facial hair and those not wearing a black suit.  Who would have thought?
